Just because you are looking for an affordable helmet doesn t mean that you have to scrimp on the quality. Cheap motorcycle helmets these days are fairly easy to find. However you can still spend 600 dollars or more on a helmet if you want. A helmet that is cheap should still run you around 60 to 100 dollars depending on the helmet. For example AFX makes some cheap motor cycle helmets. They make anything from Open face to Full face helmets. Beanies and half Helmets are also available by AFX. there are many other manufacturers that make a reasonably priced product that still has appeal. I mean who wants to wear a cheap helmet that looks like someone cut a whole in a bowling ball and stuffed it on your head.

When you decide to find a cheap helmet you still want to make sure that the helmet is DOT certified. Its not worth the discount only to sacrifice on safety since a helmet is a vital piece of safety equipment when riding I would recommend you always make sure that you get one that is DOT certified. If you just try to keep it simple you should be able to get a good deal without having to sacrifice safety. If you just stick to a solid color or just one that is multicolored you should be able to find something that is cheap. Also most manufacturers of helmets discontinue their models quite frequently so you might be able to pick one up cheap on a close out sale as well as local shops that try to get old inventory out the door might give a discount on a perfectly good brand new helmets.

Another place to find cheap motorcycle helmets is in online shops or on Ebay. I would not however recommend that you buy a used helmet, mainly because once its been in a wreck or accident you can not depend on it being reliable protection any longer. So your best way to ensure that you get quality is to buy brand new.

If you have a motor cycle you know that most states require some sort of head gear for safety. Most are very strict on motor cycle riders wearing a helmet. I know Texas is probably the most relaxed and they require you to carry some extra insurance in order for you to not have to wear a helmet when you re out there riding. Also finding an affordable motor cycle helmet keeps down the cost of all the money you are going to have to invest in decent riding gear. A jacket gloves and boots are not cheap. Also some sort of leathers are a good idea especially if you are a sport rider. Guys that ride cruisers generally opt for Chaps which do add some protection but mainly are just good for adding some warmth and cutting the wind. So when you do decide to shop for a cheap motor cycle helmet just remember that you can find a good deal without sacrificing on safety. Make sure you see a DOT sticker on the helmet somewhere.
