Music education includes instrument training and teaching music. It seeks to develop the whole person and is not merely for learning notes and beats. Music education presses improvement in the emotional sphere, with music admiration and empathy. It also helps develop motor skills in individuals who play musical instruments, improving sensitivity in hand, eye and ear coordination - a fine exercise for the senses and muscles. Some suggestions for those who would like to obtain a degree in music education are presented as follows:

  1. Enroll in humanities and arts programs to receive college credit in subjects providing background to music history and music admiration. Most universities offer curricula in music studies. Alumni of these programs become specialized teachers of primary school ensembles, secondary school ensembles and classes for music beginners. Higher degrees can guide music education students to possible employment in a university. Actually, most students were educated in music since their elementary school days. But the setting at the college and university level is much deeper and more technical compared to the earlier music education .
  2. Enroll in a university or college that offers music education programs or art courses that offer the same. Some universities and colleges offer courses leading to the degree in music studies.
  3. Enroll in certified music schools to obtain a degree in music. Music schools give priority to musical talent and focus more on the significance of music in culture and society. Therefore, for the best musical education and appreciation, it is highly recommended to enroll in music schools.
  4. Part-time and expert musicians can also take music education , usually short private meetings with a music instructor on a one-on-one basis. But unlike professional and mature musicians, part-time musicians normally take training to study music fundamentals and apprentice to study intermediary-level musical procedures. Since these music educational settings are much like a tutorial or supplementary education, most probably they don't provide a degree in music.

The most important thing, actually, is not the recognition of ones' degree in music studies. It is not really important how you obtain the degree but how deserving a student you were to have earned the degree. Music education teaches more than notes and rhythms, but also compassion, as earlier noted. If the student is not compassionate enough in his choice of music, he might as well not obtain his degree.

Music education also increases cognitive growth through recognition and clarification of the musical notations. Due to its many great benefits, intellectually, emotionally and physically, it is not surprising that many students would like to pursue a degree in music studies. With proper discernment, with the right passion and the right institution, the student can obtain his degree in music studies.
