Money Saving Advantages: The amount of money that a student saves from engaging in online study versus getting a college degree at a physical campus is amazing. First, the student that studies for an online college degree does not face the fees that the average college student attending a physical campus faces; there are no room and board fees when studying for online college degrees; there are no parking fees associated with online college degrees; and there are little to no travel expenses when one studies online.

No Transportation, No Problem: For those individuals that do not have a vehicle to travel back and forth to college, getting one of the online college degrees offered is most certainly an option. Access to online college degree opportunities gives students the chance to attend colleges they may not have been able to attend because the college that they want to attend is too far away from their family or because they lack a way back and forth to classes every day.

Solo Study: When one begins studying for an online college degree they will soon discover that they will require quite a bit of self-motivation. Much of the study time is spent alone and even with virtual classroom access, there is still a significant amount of time that the student will be forced to be self-reliant. If the student needs regular classroom interaction, they should seriously consider that need before enrolling for any of the online college degrees offered.

Response Time Delay: While an online student is studying, they will find that they will be communicating via email, message boards and forums. If a question about an assignment is raised, it could be at least 24 hours before they receive a response. Online students will find that they will need to start assignments early, just in case any questions arise before the assignment is due.

Online Study Equals More Reading: College students are required to do a lot of reading: more so if they are online students. All communication with the teacher and classmates will be conducted via writing in discussion board and the like. A student in Georgia considering online study should multiply their reading expectations times two; a student will be required to read email communications, discussion board responses, chat room lectures, and printed lectures, in addition to the assignments they will have to read and write about.
