A coupe is a car you want, rather than a car you need. Certain tradeoffs are inherent in their design. That rakishly sloping roofline may squeeze the rear-seat occupants into the fetal position, if they can clamber back there at all. That fetchingly tapered trunk, whose contours catch the light just so, may accept only a couple of duffel bags or small suitcases — and a golf bag only after a prolonged and messy fight. And those artful pillars that so seamlessly meld roof with rear deck will often create blind spots that will swallow an Escalade whole.
