Some paralegals find jobs available in government offices, while others find positions in influential companies. The future looks bright for students that study for a paralegal degree as many new positions are anticipated for the skilled and qualified.
A paralegal degree prepares the student to work in a job that offers employment year round and the average work week for a paralegal is often full-time. There are some paralegal positions in California that provide temporary lay offs when the workload is slow, but for the majority of available positions, a student that earns their paralegal degree can rest assured in knowing that they will always be able to be gainfully employed.

Students in California that earn a paralegal degree are not locked into a field of law. There are plenty of opportunities available for paralegal graduates outside the legal field. In fact, the diverse education a paralegal student receives, readies them for a number of different, high paying jobs.
Since there is a lot of communication skills demanded of the paralegal student, the graduate can work in the field of communication. Many businesses in California are looking for employees that have diverse skills—working in communications with a law background is wholly possible with a paralegal degree.
Administrative assistants make a comfortable living and studying for a paralegal degree can prepare the individuals for such a position. The paralegal student will learn research techniques, how to use a computer effectively, and the ins and outs of business. Such skills can be applied in an administrative assistant position in almost any firm or company.
Some paralegals go on to become managers in certain businesses. The strong communication skills and background in law are excellent skills that can be applied as a manager of a restaurant, a small business, or an office management position. Paralegal students possess fantastic organization skills and will be required to learn how to run an office efficiently.

Since the paralegal student is familiarized with legal terminology, the paralegal can work in an office creating legal documents for a firm.
