Who wouldnt love food festivals? Colorful festivities and a dining table filled with varied dishes characterize food festivals. Usually, a food festival also serves as a time to reunite with family and friends. Thus, when a forthcoming food festival is about to happen, many of us will find our hands full and minds zero-blank thinking about the food to be prepared. Planning ahead of course would take away some worries off our shoulders. Matters we have to consider are as follows to hit a bull's eye.

Schedule/Calendar. How many months does an event planner need to prepare for a food festival? For some, it takes at least eight months to one year to organize, identify the locality, the dates, entertainment, and marketing materials, among others. What we need to list down apart from these activities are the participating vendors, sponsors, suppliers, and even the promoters. Always ensure that you are following the timetable may it be for a small or big food festival event.

Organization. Apart from the participants listed above, you also need to coordinate with the local agencies to guarantee that at least crimes or unexpected incidents will not take place during the occasion. At least we are going to take precautionary measures before everything went out of order.

Local agencies that need to be contacted are as follows:

Police Department
Fire Department
Department of Health
Streets and Sanitation
Park District
Office of Emergency Management Communications

In order to recognize these agencies in the festival, it is best if identification cards will be provided for everyones protection.

Process. The contribution of the city agencies will truly make a difference to make the food festival successful. Aside from this, the operations team should be carrying out the following functions:

Pre-event load-in (setup)
Operations during the event
Post-event load-out (tear down)

Be guarded also of the street closures, tent building, forklift operators, carpenters, electricians, maintenance equipment and staff, security, logistics for supplier trucks, management trailers and more. For participating bistro or restaurants they should be willing to undertake the following Public Health inspections of their booths, and control of the flow of inventory between their booths and refrigerated trucks.

Programming. It would be a big surprise if various programs will be held in order to attract not only the locals but the tourists too. International correspondents regularly cover happenings like this and the good thing is it can be promoted in the international scene. Aside from the food festival itself, the organizers usually come up with small events within the event like the following:

Free concerts featuring national and local performers

Cooking exhibitions
Fitness activities
Food suppliers
Amusement rides
Fireworks displays

Sponsorship. Any event would not exist without a few sponsorships. Be grateful that there are some patrons who are willing to pay for and support these festivities. When sending a proposal for funding, always take a look at the clients portfolio and include some elements that would help them in promoting completely their companys products and services in return. Aside from favorable access to VIP seating areas, you might want to include other marketing plan in their behalf as well.

For food festivals, here are some sponsors that you must be targeting:

Cellular companies
Retail and Grocery store chains
Beverage companies
Banks
Airline and hotels
Media
Auto -maker
Food suppliers
Restaurants
Fitness and health care organizations
