(NC)-As the weather turns warmer, it's a great time to make sure the cooling system in your vehicle is working properly. One way to take the guesswork out of this process is by using Prestone Premixed LongLife Antifreeze/Coolant. It contains a precise blend of 50 percent antifreeze/coolant for temperature and corrosion protection and 50 percent demineralized water for heat transfer protection, and can be used with antifreeze/coolant in virtually all vehicle makes and models - old and new. However, if you are doing more than just topping off, and you want to conduct a complete flush and fill, be sure you use the concentrated formula.

The Prestone team also highly recommends the use of distilled, deionized or quality soft water during flush and fills to minimize potential contamination. Ions and impurities that are sometimes present in poor quality water can attack and/or adhere to metal surfaces in hot heat exchangers and cause scale build up. Also, some municipal water carries chloride, chlorine and sulfate, which can contribute to corrosive issues.
