What is phishing? Phishing is deception. It is the process of attempting to acquire sensitive information to fool users and exploit the poor usability of the current web security. Phishing attempts to steal your valuable personal data. The designer of phishing scams attempts to look like as a trustworthy entity in the electronic communication. They use popular social web sites to tempt the unsuspecting victims.

How do we detect phishing? There are a number of forms used in the phishing scam. E-mail messages appear to come from your bank or a company you regularly do business. Another form of phishing in which an email message might look like it comes from your employer is called spear phishing. It could also appear like it comes from a colleague who might send an e-mail to everyone including the head of human resources.

Official-looking logos and other identifying information taken directly from legitimate Web sites, and it may include convincing details about your personal information is another form of phishing that scammers found on your social networking pages. One thing in common in a phishing scam is that it always asks for personal data, or direct you to Web sites or phone numbers to call where they ask you to provide personal data. Few phrases to look for if you think an email is a phishing scam: "verify your account", you have won the lottery," "if you don't respond within 48 hours, your account will be closed."

Take note that businesses do not ask you to send passwords, Social Security Numbers, or other personal information through e-mail. If you received an e-mail message asking you to update the information on your credit card, do not respond; this is a phishing scam. In the lottery scam you will receive a message informing you of your winning a big sum of money. Usually the scammer asks you to deposit a certain amount to a given account before you can claim your lottery prize. Do not believe them even if they include references to big companies. Another phishing scam message conveys urgency. Don't just believe them without calling you bank.

How do we prevent a phishing scam? The most important thing that you should do in order to prevent and protect you from phishing scams is to update your computer. Your operating system must be installed anti-virus and anti-spyware softwares. A forceful new tool known as phishing filter protects computer users from deception and the risk of pilfering private information.

There are ways by which phishing filter may save you from potentially damaging Web sites. An good way of protecting you when you happen to visit web pages associated with known online fraud is to alert you that you had visited a suspicious site. When you have an online service protection, the suspicious site that you had accidentally visited cannot do any damage to your document or any stored information because it has already been blocked by the phising filter.

Choosing an immigration lawyer is really not easy. There are horror stories about them. However there are honest lawyers out there. To find one needs your skills in research.
