Shakespeare's Directors: Tom and Rick Bronson. Hamlet is the son of the late King Hamlet of Denmark, who died two months before the start of the play. His brother, Claudius, becomes king, and marries King Hamlet's widow, Gertrude, Queen of Denmark. Young Hamlet fears his father has been killed by Claudius, enabling Claudius to become king of Denmark. This greatly angers Hamlet. Later, King Hamlet's ghost appear at midnight to Hamlet and tells him privately that Claudius had indeed murdered him by pouring poison in his ear. John Prine emerged on the music scene in 1971, and during his three-decade plus career, he has released critically acclaimed albums such as, Sweet Revenge and Common Sense. The latter album was Prine?s first to be charted in the U.S. top 100 by Billboard. In 1991 Prine released Grammy Award-winning The Missing Years, his first collaboration with producer and Heartbreakers bassist Howie Epstein. Prine released In Spite of Ourselves in 1997, a collection of duets with well-known female country vocalists, including Lucinda Williams. In 2003 he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and two years later he was named Americana Music Awards Artist of the Year.
