Relationship Problem Advice

Breaking up can create a tremendous about of grief, especially if the split is not something you wanted. Feelings of panic, guilt and numbness are not uncommon. What can you do? How do you get through the sleepless nights, the loss of appetite and the constant thinking about your ex? I totally understand... I've been there myself and have good news: There are things you can do to ease the pain, have a normal life again and quite possibly get your ex back if that's what you truly want. But you must know exactly what to do and what not to do. You want to avoid certain mistakes almost everyone makes... mistakes that will prolong your misery and ruin any chances of a reunion.
The first thing you must do is ask yourself "Is this relationship really right for both of us... is it what I truly want?" Be honest with yourself. Make sure you're not just feeling lonely and suffering from separation grief.
If you honestly feel that the relationship is worth saving and you would like a second chance, then it's important that you learn some new behaviors... behaviors that may be difficult for you at first, but you must force yourself to do them if you want to win back your ex.
It is absolutely critical that you stop any behavior that comes across as pushy, needy or desperate. This means no more constant calling or texting your ex, no arguing about the relationship and definitely do not beg or try to convince them about how you two are "meant to be together" and how you will change. This type of behavior has only one result: It pushes your ex farther away every time. It's human nature to pull away when someone is pushing.
Do the opposite... chill out and break off all contact for a while. Yes, this will be hard to do but you must make yourself do this. Stay busy doing positive things for yourself... spending time with friends and family, etc.
This will have a positive effect on your ex. They will no longer see you as clinging and desperate. Instead, you've become detached and maybe even a bit mysterious. At this point it is likely that they will contact you. Don't make the mistake of jumping and acting over eager. Be polite and friendly, but retain a sense of composure and detachment. Again, this is basic human nature... now you're pulling back slightly and this will draw your ex towards you.
You may be thinking all this sounds manipulative and bit like game playing. It's important to understand that you're simply working with human nature instead of against it! Once the two of you are no longer "pushing" or "pulling" against each other, you can come together as equals... and truly communicate about the deeper issues that need healing.
