Royal Caribbean

When taking a Royal Caribbean cruise, you want your experience to be exciting and fulfilling. You will want to make sure everything is just right and that you know everything there is to know about your upcoming adventure. You are going to want to know about check-in procedures, activities on board, tipping, and age restrictions, as well as the different types of excursions available through Royal Caribbean.

1. Activities For Teens And Children On The Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean cruise ships have many different activities for teens and young children. The little tots will enjoy the playgroups, courtesy of Fisher-Price. The activities are intended for children up to three years of age. Experts in the field of early childhood development designed the playgroups.

There are many activities for children and teens up to the age of seventeen. Teenagers enjoy the dance club for teens only. The dance club is open until two in the morning. The teen lounge is a great place for teens to mix and mingle with other teens onboard and make new friends.

Different age groups are offered different activities to keep them busy and having a fun time on the cruise liner. There is the explorers group, voyagers group, aquanauts group, and the teen groups. The children play games, compete for prizes, and learn to make masks and kites. Children always have something to do while on a cruise vacation.

The certified instructors have years of experience with children and plan only the best activities for children of all ages. Certified instructors monitor the teen dance club and teen lounge, as well. You never have to worry about what the children are doing while on a cruise ship; you can sit back and enjoy yourself. You may spend time in the spa or a relaxing nap poolside, but you will always know the children are having a good time.

2. Royal Caribbean Age Policy

The Royal Caribbean cruise line does enforce age restrictions. If you are under twenty-one and not traveling with someone over that age, you cannot stay in a stateroom. However, children traveling with their parents are given a waiver for any age restrictions. If you have children that are under twenty-one, you can sign a waiver that allows them to drink alcohol while on the cruise ship; however, you have to board the cruise ship in South American and European countries where the drinking age is lower than the United States.

If you are interested in gambling, the age limit is set at eighteen years of age. However, if you board the cruise liner in Alaska, you need to be twenty-one years of age to gamble on the ship. Cruising is enjoyable for all ages and even with age restrictions, everyone has a great time. If you are married to an older person and you are under twenty-one, you will need to bring along your marriage license as proof.

When planning your cruise, keep in mind the age restrictions and the areas that have different age limits for different activities. This will help you plan your cruise and allow you to enjoy everything on your vacation. Royal Caribbean only enforces these restrictions for everyone’s safety.

3. Dining On The Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship

Dining on the Royal Caribbean cruise liner is done throughout the day, anytime you want a snack or a meal. The Windjammer Café is a place to have a snack or a light meal. Many of the ships belonging to the cruise lines do not have some of the specialty diners; you should always check for a dining guide for your particular ship.

The coffee bar Latte-Tudes offers a tasty cappuccino with a light snack. Some of the cruise ships have a Ben and Jerry’s diner with frozen drinks and ice cream. Tell them what type sundae you want and they will make it for you. The Café Promenade is where you go for a sandwich or pizza. This diner is found on the Royal Promenade cruise ship.

The Seaview Café offers dining with the view of the ocean. People sit here for hours enjoying a light meal and a cup of coffee. The café is a great place to mingle and meet new people. Cruising always has one special time when everyone is gathered in one room at one time, which is dinnertime.

Dinner is served in the main dinning room with a five-course meal. The cruise line does ask that everyone come to the dining room for a nighttime dinner. This is a way for everyone to talk, meet friends, or maybe even sit at the captain’s table. The main dining room does have a dress code for dinner.

4. Tipping And Paying For Purchases Onboard The Royal Caribbean

Many people are confused about tipping onboard a cruise line. The Royal Caribbean cruise liner, like most cruise liners, does not recommend tipping during the cruise. Tipping is done after you receive your bill, which is delivered to your cabin on the last day just before entering the dock. It has all the services that you used during your vacation cruise. This is when you look everything over and apply the proper tips to the proper staff members. It will have a place for your cabin boy, hairdresser, room service attendant, and anyone else that you received good service from onboard the ship. You simply enter the amount of the tip for each person.

Paying for your purchases while cruising is done on your expense account. This account was set up prior to departure at check in. Everything and anything that you bought is charged to your expense account and on the last day is submitted to you for approval. After you approve all purchases, your credit card is charged. This is a nice service because you do not need to carry money along with you everywhere you go on the ship.

5. Casinos and Nightclubs Onboard The Royal Caribbean

The Royal Caribbean cruise liners do offer nightclubs and casinos. The casinos are found on certain cruise ships, but the nightclubs are on all the ships. One of the casino cruise ships has a special player program where you are invited to play in an exclusive casino program. This program offers some benefits such as rewards as you play. When you are cruising, the open waters and enjoying a game of Blackjack or Poker is very exciting, but if you do not know how to play, you can miss the excitement. They have a learning center where you learn the basics of playing the games. This sets you in the right direction for starting out. The Royal Caribbean ships offer tournaments in slots and blackjack.

The nightclubs onboard the ships offer a night of fun. They have the Champagne Bar, Boleros, Vintages, and Pubs. The Pub has a variety of imported beers, and the Vintages offers a variety of wines with wine tasting and samplings for even more excitement. You will find that at night there are plenty of places onboard to enjoy the nightlife.

Between the casinos and the nightclubs, you will have an enjoyable time mingling and talking to new friends you have met onboard. The days are for activities, and the nights are for relaxing and fun. You will find a list of casinos and nightclubs on all ships on their Royal Caribbean website.

6. Internet Connections Onboard The Royal Caribbean

Although everyone take a Royal Caribbean vacation to get away, they still may need to have access to the Internet. The cruise liner does have available options for connecting to the Internet while cruising. The cruise ship you are on will depend on how you stay connected. They have the cyber cabin, wireless connections, and the Internet Café.
You pay an extra charge for this service, but it does not cost that much to connect to the Internet. The first option is the cyber cabin, which allows you to connect from your cabin. The guest desk does have the kit available, which includes a phone, cables, instructions, and a power supply.

The Internet Café is a place where you can go to connect to the Internet while enjoying a cup of coffee or a soft drink. You can send and receive e-mails, check your stock quotes, or send postcards to your friends. They have different payment plans to suit your needs. The cruise line offers this great service for people who do not want to bring their own laptops.

The wireless connect is done with your laptop. If you do not have a wireless laptop, you can rent a wireless card from the guest desk and install it in your laptop. This allows you to use your laptop anywhere on the ship except in areas where it is prohibited.

7. Types of Excursions Available On The Royal Caribbean

The Royal Caribbean cruise line offers different types of excursions that can be enjoyed by everyone. The adventure excursion allows for 4 x 4 off roading and mountain bike riding. The canopy and canoe adventures are included in the wilderness and wildlife excursion. If you love to explore the world underneath the water, scuba diving and snorkeling offer a tour of the beautiful reefs around the areas where the cruise ship docks.

Besides cruising on the open waters, you might enjoy the flight excursion or the sightseeing tours. Imagine a tour of the volcanoes and glaciers from a helicopter. Combine this excursion with the sightseeing tour on land and you will have a wonderful adventure. The cruise liner has many activities; however, you can choose off ship excursions that offer adventure and excitement.

The golfing excursion provides plenty of time to play a round of golf at select courses throughout the cruise. The Royal Caribbean excursions include beach tours, museum tours, and live entertainment. With all these different excursions available, you can find something for the entire family to do.

The itinerary you receive before boarding the ship provides you with the day and time of the event you will take part in. The itinerary will tell you what you need to know before leaving the cruise ship and where to check in. Always keep your itinerary with you so you know what you are doing and when.

8. Things To Do Before The Royal Caribbean Cruising Begins

The Royal Caribbean cruise ship has specific times to board the ship. You can board one hour before departure, but many people like to arrive earlier just to be safe. Once you are checked in and are ready to board, you can chat with friends and family before boarding to say good-bye. They are, however, not allowed on the ship.

You must check in no later than one hour prior to departure. You are considered a no show, if you don’t follow this specification and will miss your cruise. It is best to carry a small travel bag with you that has your vacation documents, medications, and a change of clothes. You do not know how long it will take to get your bags to your cabin and this way you have some things that you need right away.

When you board the cruise liner, go to your cabin, check the schedule for activities onboard, and drop off your carry on bag. If you are traveling with children, be sure to sign them up for the youth activities right away, so they can be scheduled in for activities and shows that are available. Sign up for any other activities you are interested in such as the fitness room or the spa. If you are a bit hungry, the café offers snacks and drinks from the time of boarding until departure.

9. Checking in Online With Royal Caribbean

If you have a computer, you can utilize the Royal Caribbean online check-in system and save yourself some time. By using this service, you will save time when you arrive at the pier where the cruise liner is docked. After completing your check-in process, you are given a “set sail pass” that indicates you have checked in with success. You will need to keep this pass with you and present it at the designated area when you arrive at the Royal Caribbean cruise ship check-in desk.

Since you have chosen the online check in, all you need to do is look for the designated desk that says “Set Sail Pass.” This is where you will present your documents, which will include the pass, identification, credit card, and your expense account information. Because you have chosen the online check in for your cruise, you will not have to fill out any paperwork when you arrive at the dock. This does speed up the process and allows you more time before your cruising adventure.

Once you present your documents, you will wait in the area they direct you to for boarding the cruise liner. The wait time is relatively short after you check in and receive your cabin number and itinerary. All that is left to do is to enjoy the cruise.
