HGV, also known as a Heavy Goods Vehicle, was actually quite popular a long time ago. However today, the popularity has waned but there are many people still making it a career driving a HGV. A HGV is meant to be a vehicle for the transportation of big bulky items between warehouses or factories. Since a HGV is meant for heavy items, the driver must have the strength to manoeuvre the vehicle to avoid getting into accidents. The HGV will be extremely heavy when loaded.

Getting a license to drive a HGV can be difficult and expensive. There are two categories of license. One is known as N2 and the other is known as N3. When you apply for a N2 license you can drive a HGV with a Maximum Allowed Mass of between 3.5 tons and 12 tons. However, if you need to drive a HGV (which is more than 12 tons), you need to apply for an N3 license.

To get the license, you can either pay for it yourself or get someone to sponsor you. It is much easier when you pay for it yourself. All you need to do is take a few lessons and do some tests. When you pass the tests, you get the license. However, when it comes to finding a sponsor for your license, it can be extremely difficult (but not impossible). Normally, to get sponsorship means you need to join a company that offers free training for drivers to drive a HGV, but the downside is you will have to work for the company after training is completed and you might have to get your own HGV.

It is compulsory for all HGV s to have HGV insurance. This is the law and any law breakers will be charged accordingly. To avoid all the hassle, follow the rules and regulations when you are buying a HGV. HGV insurance is expensive, more than the cost of van insurance. The reason for having HGV insurance is to protect client’s interests as well as your interests, especially if you run a HGV business. You will be more credible when your HGV is covered by insurance. Naturally, this means more business.

The compulsory insurance to buy is the vehicle insurance. This insurance applies to all vehicles on the road, so no matter if you have a HGV or a car, vehicle insurance is a must. There is no reason why you should skip the insurance after all, it is for your own protection.

The most common insurance for HGV is known as Goods in Transit insurance. This insurance is to protect your HGV from any loss and/or damage. The price can be expensive, but it is worth investing the amount for less worry. Trying to save money will eventually cost you more money when accidents happen. We never know what will happen which is why we need insurance. There are many other types of insurance; you can find out more from your insurance company, but these are the rules you need to follow when you own a HGV.
