The Salt Lake City International Airport is known as the second largest airport in the United States and is also the second largest hub for Delta Airlines in the United States. The airport is large, spanning well over 7,600 acres and this includes five concourses contained in 2 terminals; 90 parking spots for aircraft; four runways; a full-service international terminal with customs services and facilities; as well as a host of cargo, airside, and landside facilities.

If you are traveling either to or from the Salt Lake City International Airport by ground, then you have a variety of options available to you through facilities available at the airport.
You can find car rental services in the short-term parking garage ground floor that is located across from the terminal buildings. This service will provide a list of car rental services and the contact information for these services. You can also obtain ground transportation information at any of the Ground Transportation Desks in either terminal near the baggage claims. Taxicab service is also available out of the Salt Lake City International Airport or to the airport through a flat rate. You can arrange for taxi service from the airport through the Ground Transportation Desk at the end of the baggage claim through City Cab, Ute Cab, or Yellow Cab. For loading and unloading of passengers only, you can use the areas in front of either of the airport terminals when you are dropping passengers off or picking them up. You will not be permitted to leave your vehicle unattended for any amount of time without facing possible impound and parking citations. The short-term parking garage at the Salt Lake City International Airport offers free parking for the first 30 minutes, so you can take advantage of this free parking if you need to assist passengers with unloading and loading.
The Salt Lake City International Airport also offers a new Park and Wait parking lot that you can take advantage of at no cost if you are picking passengers up at the airport. You will find this lot located directly in the entrance of the airport, south of Terminal One. Here you can wait for deplaning, obtain luggage, and walk to the curb for passenger pickup. This lot offers the convenience of 100 new parking spaces and three large flight display signs announcing fight arrivals. When your passenger's flight has arrived, allow time for your passenger to claim baggage, and you will see a notation on the display indicating `ready for pickup'. Once your passenger is ready, you can exit from the parking lot and onto the terminal roads to pick them up.

If you are coming to the Salt Lake City International Airport by road with your own vehicle, the airport offers a number of options for both short and long-term parking. Hourly or daily parking is available in the hourly parking lot for a daily maximum of $25.00 with your first 30 minutes of parking free. These lots are located southwest of each of the terminal buildings and the airport can provide a shuttle for you between the terminals and the parking lot with shuttles running every five minutes. Please note that Level 1 of the short-term parking is reserved strictly for hourly parking. Disabled and handicapped parking is found on all three levels of the hourly parking garage.
There is an economy parking lot located both south and west of the terminals that you can use if you are keeping your car at the airport on a long-term basis. The daily maximum rate for this parking is $6.00 with a weekly maximum of $42.00. Again, you can take advantage of any of the parking shuttles that the airport offers between the terminals and this parking lot.

For passengers that are having extended wait times between flights or while waiting for a flight at the Salt Lake City International Airport, there is a large variety of facilities there for your convenience.
The airport offers a host of Children's Play Areas that families with children can use when waiting for flights. These are located at the tops of Concourse A, B, and E. There are also many stations located throughout both terminals and at Concourse E where facilities can be used to care for infant needs and small children. These facilities come equipped with running sinks and change tables for your children's needs.
If you have small personal business that you need to take care of between flights, there are some facilities on site that you can take advantage of. Fax Service is available on-site through Zion's Bank in Terminal II or at Laptop Lane also located in Terminal II. Zion's First National Bank is also available for small money matter such as currency exchange, wire transfers, or personal banking. As well, there are several ATM machines located all throughout the airport for your convenience.
If you have extended wait times between flights, you can also take advantage of the InMotion Pictures service offered through Salt Lake City International Airport. This service will rent portable DVD players as well as movies that travelers can use during delays, layovers, or even on their flight.

Efficient check-in and clearance through the security checkpoints at Salt Lake City International Airport will ensure your flight through the airport will be easy, and hassle free. Preparing ahead of time is the most efficient way to ensure this process goes as smoothly as possible for you.
Arrive to the airport early, and travelers are being advised that a minimum of one hour in advance of your departure time is the most efficient preparation. Due to the heightened security measures at Salt Lake City International Airport, this amount of time will ensure your check-in is as seamless as possible. If you are traveling with babies, children, or disabled passengers, you may want to allow for more time in advance. If you are traveling internationally, the airport recommends an arrival of two hours prior to your departure to clear customs and security checkpoints.
Before you can board an aircraft, you will need identification, your flight ticket, and a boarding pass. You will be required to carry and show government issued photo identification for all domestic travel within the United States. Be prepared to show this I.D. at any point, and possibly at multiple points. For domestic travel, photo identification such as a driver's license is acceptable. For all travel internationally and out of the United States, you will be required to carry a passport.

For in-flight traveling, each passenger is limited to one carry-on bag and one personal bag such as a purse, briefcase, or laptop carry bag. All bags and totes will be subject to a hand search as well as X-Ray Screening. You must be prepared to take your laptop and/or materials from your purse or briefcase out of its bag to be X-Rayed separately. The Salt Lake City International Airport prohibits the passage of any materials deemed as cutlery or pocketknives in any carry-on baggage.
Limit the amount of metal objects you wear on your clothing and on your person, and be prepared to remove any metal objects before passing through the metal detectors. You should also be prepared to remove your shoes if you are asked to do so. Plan ahead for ease of shoe removal to make this process more efficient for you.
You may take drinks and or snacks on board with you, however it is recommended that you purchase these items after you complete the security checkpoints as these items will be allowed on your flight.
