There's no substitute for solid engineering, but a bit of added flash never hurts when it comes to enhancing market appeal. That fact was not lost on Acura, which endowed the TL sedan with a tasteful freshening for 2002.

Acura TSX - 2006 Review: When choosing an entry-level luxury car, some people want a car that exudes status like a Mercedes-Benz C230, others want the handling and performance a BMW 325i delivers, and then there are those who follow their heart and go for the looks of say, an Audi 2.
Acura MDX - 2007 First Drive: Stylish Moms and Driver Dads are unlikely to ever find themselves barrel-assing the 2007 Acura MDX down the highway at 90 mph in an intense thunderstorm, but can rest assured that this new luxury SUV is up to that task, and more, based on our first-hand experience.
The 2007 Acura MDX is a sport sedan in SUV clothing.
As the SUV market matures, it's getting sliced and diced into finer and finer sub-segments. What started long ago as a tiny niche of backwoods log-hoppers has evolved into a great swath of sport utes covering a myriad of uses.
For a price tag between $32,000 and $38,000, the 2007 Acura RDX proves that fun can be had at an entry-luxury price.

Some of us liked the RDX, some of us didn't, and some of us would rather have the less expensive but very similar Mazda CX-7 instead...
Dating back to 1995, the TL sedan from Acura, Honda's luxury division, has turned into the company's top seller. Developers of the 2007 edition couldn't tamper with that success, but they have given the TL a new group of potential customers among the enthusiast crowd.

2009 Acura TSX Preview - New York Auto Show: Acura is talking up its second generation TSX sedan as a larger, more responsive and better looking vehicle.
Previous TLs have come in two versions: base model and performance-oriented Type-S. This time, the hotter edition is called the TL SH-AWD, denoting its Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. In the standard front-wheel-drive TL, a 3.5-liter V-6 engine develops 280 horsepower and 254 lb.-ft. of torque. SH-AWD sedans get a larger, 3.7-liter V-6 that generates 305 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft.
The 2009 Acura TL has been completely redesigned by Honda's luxury division. It's wrapped in a controversial skin from stem to stern, full of angles, furrows, creases, and rather long overhangs front and rear. Its Honda Accord underpinnings give it generous room front and rear, but also mean that even in all-wheel-drive guise it's a front-heavy beast that's not quite a performance match for rear-wheel-drive competitors.
First of all, I purchased all your e-books on-line and wanted to thank you for being such an honest person and also for helping and caring for the people who are always getting ripped off and taken advantage of. There are not very many people left in this world as kind as you are.
In the paved world, the MDX can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 8 seconds. Its mesa-shaped torque curve means responsive acceleration around town and for merging and passing at any speed.
Powering the 2007 MDX is a 3.7-liter VTEC V-6 punching out 300 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 275 pound-feet of torque at 5000 rpm — that's 47 more horses and 25 more pound-feet of torque over the previous SUV.
The 2009 Acura MDX is a seven-passenger, three-row luxury crossover vehicle. The design of the MDX emphasizes style, passenger and cargo utility, and on-the-road comfort and handling, rather than off-roading ability. However, with Acura's inclusion of standard all-wheel drive, the MDX can easily handle muddy trails and shallow streams. The MDX crossover SUV was redesigned for 2007 and carries into 2009 with few changes.
The exterior and interior of the Acura MDX were designed in America, at Honda's facilities in Los Angeles and Ohio, with input from design centers in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Milan, Italy.
Forget sleight-of-hand or levitating acts. If you want to experience something amazing, test drive Acura's newest version of its full-size SUV, the MDX. Powered by a VTEC-equipped 3.7-liter, 300-bhp V-6, mated to a 5-speed sequential-shift automatic, the MDX's inability to frighten small children or break the sound barrier like its über German rivals is forgotten once you reach twisty roads and its considerable engineering genius shines through.
Introduced in 2001, MDX was named North American Truck of the Year by a panel of 50 independent automotive journalists. Through the five model years since, the MDX has been steadily improved in all areas.
The 2008 Acura MDX is a large luxury crossover vehicle. The design of the MDX emphasizes style, passenger and cargo utility, and on-the-road comfort and handling, rather than off-roading ability.
As for the valet-cachet part, we have trouble seeing much of it here. Aside from its Acuraesque front end, the RDX looks pretty much like a lot of other SUVs scampering around out there.
The Acura RDX is a compact crossover sport-utility built more for sporty performance than comfortable cruising. The 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine is turbocharged to produce 240 horsepower, and it isn't totally tame.
The new RDX is a smaller, five-passenger alternative to Acura's MDX. It is based on the Honda CR-V platform and features the same Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system offered in the larger MDX crossover.
The big RL sedan is Acura's flagship vehicle, and the brand pours plenty of R&D into making it among the best of the bunch year after year. Overall, editors at TheCarConnection.com note that covering every Acura vehicle is a veneer of stability and sensibility―and the 2007 Acura RL is the king of this philosophy. In 2006 the RL picked up all-wheel drive and became sportier in flavor, and it hasn't changed much for 2007.
Inside the Acura RL is a luxurious and functional cabin. The seats are comfortable for cruising yet supportive for hard driving. The wide armrests have a nice soft feel.
The RL delivers the responsive handling of a sports sedan yet rides smoothly. It offers the latest in technology, including a system that can help you avoid rear-ending someone in stop-and-go traffic.
Truth be told, the Acura RL needs to be replaced. Are the experts at TheCarConnection.com cruel and going out on a limb to proclaim this? Nope. Acura told us so. Company officials already showed the 2009 Acura RL to the world at the Chicago auto show in February 2008.
For the past decade or so, the sport compact scene has been dominated by quick, affordable front-drivers from Japan. They're fun, reliable, inexpensive and easy to tune. And until the recent arrival of all-wheel-drive screamers from Mitsubishi and Subaru, the most popular cars in this segment have typically been Hondas and Acuras.
The success of previous TLs centered on two aspects: a powerful V-6 engine and lots of standard equipment. The new TL predictably sticks to that playbook but adds another page with the addition of optional all-wheel drive. The standard TL’s V-6 gets a displacement enhancement from 3.2 liters to 3.5; power is up 22 horsepower to 280, and torque grows by 21 pound-feet to 254.
The new TL has all-new sheet metal in what Acura calls a Motion Surface body design. Acura says that the styling theme is marked by emotional design, linear fluidity and strong presence. While the first two of those traits may be debatable, the TL certainly has a stronger presence than any Acura in recent memory.
Acura's mid-size luxury sport sedan is the TL. In the 2007 Acura TL, shoppers will find specific updates to the interior and exterior styling versus the 2006 model. An upgraded navigation system, featuring AcuraLink satellite communication and nifty real-time traffic information, is new for 2007.
The rear of the TL looks like a Honda. The rear looks conservative when compared to the dramatic styling of the rest of the car. The trailing edge of the trunk lid is sharply crested, with a pleasing Kamm-like aero-overhang.
TL is powered by a 3.2-liter, single overhead camshaft, 24-valve, 60-degree V6 with Honda's F1 racing-developed variable valve timing and lift system (VTEC). For 2006, it's rated at 258 horsepower and 233 pound-feet of torque.
Totally reengineered way back in 2004, Acura's mid-size TL entry-level luxury/sport sedan received a number of updates and improvements for 2007. These improvements included revised exterior and interior styling, as well as an upgraded navigation system with AcuraLink satellite communication system and real-time traffic monitoring.

The TSX was compact but not cramped. It was frugal on gas but felt swift. It commuted serenely and also sliced asphalt into ribbons. It was less expensive, better equipped in base form, and when fitted with the especially satisfying six-speed stick, about 2.7 times more entertaining than most of the luxury cars then oozing across our pages.
In Douglas Kott's First Drive of the new TSX in our May issue, he guesstimated that the all-new 2009 Acura (based on the European Honda Accord) would hit 60 mph in less than 8 seconds and speed through the quarter mile in the mid-15s.
To put together this review on the new 2009 Acura TSX, the experts at TheCarConnection.com looked at the range of available reviews. Read on and learn more.
The first Acura TSX became the automotive equivalent of a cult movie. In 2004, Acura basically took the European Honda Accord, refreshed the interior, and slapped a shiny “A” onto its grille. Sales expectations were modest: 15,000 units a year.
The TSX stops as smoothly as it goes and shifts. Its brakes will bring you down from triple digits so smoothly and quickly you would never have believed you were up there.
A total of 697 miles in 33 hours works out to 21.1 mph. Not all that impressive until you factor in five meals, a good night's sleep, plenty of photo ops around California's beautiful Lake Isabella and more than a few twisties there and back.
Technology is what sets the new TSX apart. Acura's superb navigation system comes standard and can be operated using voice-recognition. The standard navigation system is the equal of anything in the class, while an optional system displays real-time traffic with congestion re-routing and local and national weather.
