The Mazdaspeed 3 is an absolute delight to drive hard and fast, provides room for four adults when it's your turn to be the D.D.
The 2009 Mazda 3 is practical, affordable, and well built, with a sporty, fun-to-drive character. Available as either a four-door sedan or a five-door hatchback, the Mazda 3 has a more rakish, aggressive exterior than most small cars; it's paired with an instrument panel that feels like it could be in a more expensive performance coupe.
Compared to the fairly ordinary, dare we say, “boring” Mazda 626 midsize sedan it replaced back then, the ’03-‘08 Mazda6 looked a lot zoomier and was much more fun to drive. So why didn’t it sell a lot better? In the first half of 2008, with the market down but the huge midsize sedan segment up vs. 2007, the Mazda6 finished a distant 10th at just 33,000 units, trailing its far more popular Japanese rivals Toyota Camry (240K), Honda Accord (206K), Nissan Altima (158K), rising domestic stars Chevy Malibu (89K), Ford Fusion (88K) and Pontiac G6 (86K), Korean Hyundai’s Sonata (66K) and Chrysler’s Sebring (48K) and Dodge Avenger (41K).
With fantastic handling and an optional power-folding hardtop, the 2009 Mazda MX-5 Miata brings the classic roadster into the modern era. The four-cylinder engines are zippy and responsive, the steering and handling are sportscar-perfect, and the manual transmissions are a sheer joy to shift.
The 2010 Mazda3 keeps the same basic Volvo-sourced architecture as the outgoing model, but it gets new styling inside and out, a larger, more powerful engine, and even more luxury and technology amenities than the generous helping it offered before.
The Mazda3 sedan measures out to 94.3 cubic feet of passenger space, which compares with the Honda Civic sedan's 90.9 cubic feet.
Three’s a crowd – which is why Mazda is aiming to shake up the popular trio of the VW Golf, Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra with its latest family hatch. We first drove the 1.6-litre diesel 3 in Issue 1,048, but now we’ve tried the car that’s predicted to be the most popular model– the 1.6-litre petrol variant.
The Mazda3 is a driver's car that's practical. The Mazda3 is useful, space-efficient, economical and pleasant across a broad range of driving situations. It also has the style, comfort, features, and personality to transform any driving experience into a sporting proposition. It's slightly less refined than its competition from Honda and Toyota, but you seem to get more car for your money, and that means personality as well as features. Compared to the competition, the Mazda3 is a driver's car, meant for people who enjoy their time in an automobile.

Mazda fuel tank is located in the rear of the chassis under the trunk compartment. As you operate the vehicle and press on the accelerator, the fuel in the tank revs up the engine and produces the power to run the automobile.
In an attempt to beef up the MX-5's appearance, the car has had its suspension lowered for a more aggressive stance and improved handling. Also included are 17-inch alloys normally offered only in Europe.
Inside Mazda MX-5, it's a similar story. With the carefully lined roof in place, the cabin offers plenty of space, and visibility is even better than in the standard car. On the move, refinement is vastly improved, and official figures show that the new machine is far quieter than the roadster. In contrast to the soft-top's 77dB noise reading at 70mph, the lightweight fibreglass lid records 72.9dB.
Affordable and fun – that's the winning combination which makes the Mazda MX-5 hard to beat. And so it proved again this year, as the little two-seater retained its title as the best second-hand roadster.
The bottom line is that the MX-5 is back to being brilliant again. It's great to be able to say that, and to be able to suggest something other than a fast hatch to those looking for a satisfying drivers' car for less than £20K, new.

Full editorial disclosure: I am an MX-5 owner. In fact, wife Dottie and I have one of the earliest Miatas in public hands, our ex-R&T Long Term car. On the other hand, I am also a Libra (October 19; no presents, please) and we all know that Libras are remarkably well-balanced, even-handed and fair-minded. Well, some of us know.
To begin with, it looks right. From above, the Miata has an oval form, its sides slightly barrel-shaped with just enough fender flare to add aggression.
Among the most distinguished names in the auto industry is Mazda. In the following article, you'll learn about Mazda parts and how they contribute to a car's overall build.
The front and rear doors open in opposite directions, which Mazda calls the Freestyle door system. With no pillar between the doors, this allows very easy ingress and egress for the rear-seat passengers.
Extremely smooth and simple, the rotary has been developed by Mazda for over 40 years. The RX-8 features the latest and by far the best rotary engine design, which Mazda calls Renesis.
The revolutionary, but always thirsty, rotary engine marks the RX-7 apart from its peers. Great value, but is it be compelling when not driven flat-out?
The Mazda RX-8 is a unique sports car. Its four-seat, four-door configuration is an original design that works. The rotary engine is super smooth, simple, high-revving and almost indestructible. It's complemented by a beautiful six-speed gearbox, great brakes, and steering that talks to your hands. The RX-8 is a great sports car with an innovative approach and admirable engineering.
NewCarTestDrive.com correspondent Sam Moses filed this report from Irvine, California, with Mitch McCullough and G.R. Whale reporting from Los Angeles.

The Mazda RX-8 has been laboring in a tough marketplace. The sporty-car market, as a whole, is off its usual pace, and Mazda's 4-door sports car has been scraping to get its small share of the pie against such cars as the Ford Mustang, Nissan 350Z, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and Subaru Impreza WRX STI.
The 2009 Mazda6 will be introduced solely as a 4-door sports sedan for now, with three trim levels: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. According to Mazda, the new exterior design "cleverly combines two seemingly contradicting ideas of strength and delicate grace¦ while inheriting the 'athletic' design that was key to the signature Mazda look of the previous model."
Under the hood of the latest Mazdaspeed-engineered MPS is Mazda's familiar 2.3-liter, inline 4-cylinder powerplant. With an exhaust-driven turbocharger, the engine is rated at 260 hp and 280 lb.-ft. of torque in European spec.
Launched in 1968 as "Mazda Sports Corner," Mazdaspeed is synonymous with high performance. The company's high-performance tuning division started as an in-house racing division competitive in the famed 24 hours of Le Mans race series.
Dubbed the "the wild child" by Mazda, the new Mazdaspeed3 adds a youthful flair to the carmaker's lineup; it's the precocious youngest child in the family. Not to the point of being undriveable or annoying, but it possesses some rawness that isn't typical Mazda.
If performance strictly by the numbers is your thing, put down the magazine now (gently), go to a Mazda dealer and write a fat check. Because the “3” excels at the test track and sweeps every category, be it 0-60 mph (6.0 sec.), the quarter mile (14.3 sec. at 98.9 mph), skidpad (0.91g), slalom (69.6 mph) and braking (trust us).
Any discussion of the front-wheel-drive Mazdaspeed3 always starts with its engine. This direct-injected 2.3-liter 4-cylinder makes 263 bhp and a steering-wheel-wrenching 280 lb.-ft. of torque that hits low and hard. "It's a torque monster!" enthused Kim. Although it has plenty of sauce when the turbo hits, it runs dry much sooner than its 6750-rpm redline."
One of the crossover sport utility vehicles in the market, the Mazda Tribute is considered to be one of the smallest in this segment. This vehicle is actually based on the platform of the Mazda 626 which is a front wheel drive vehicle.
The Ford Motor Company is responsible and the culprit behind the success and prestige that the Mazda Tribute has at present.
