It was the Great Wall Hotel in Beijing, the People's Republic of China and was renamed, Great Wall Sheraton. Furthermore, in the early and mid 90s, it began diving itself into more specific brands. By April of 1995, Sheraton introduced Four Points by Sheraton Hotels, which was a mid-scale hotel brand that offered a full-service hotel experience at a competitive price.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. bought Sheraton in 1998. Starwood also owns St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, The Luxury Collection, Le Méridien, and Westin Hotels & Resorts.
