(NC)-Why not start the year off fresh with new homework habits? Try these tips to help you make the grade:
• De-clutter. Create an area of calm by keeping your study area clutter free. It won't take much effort to tidy up as you go.
• Manage your time. Are you most productive in the morning or do you like to stay up at night? Determine your most productive hours and devote it to homework.
• Take good notes. Try the five "Rs" system - Record, Reduce, Recite, Reflect and Review - to get off to a good start.
• Stay focused. Faced with a boring topic? Force yourself to think about the material by asking questions about the lecture and underlining important concepts in your notes.
• Just do it. Strive to keep up with the readings and review class notes regularly. That way, when it comes to exam time, you will recall the information much easier.
• Come together. Facing a tough group project? Use a collaboration tool such as Microsoft Office Live Workspaces to ensure you know who's working on what and when, without having to ask. Try using it to work together and share notes, documents, calendars and tasks.
