2. Steel building advantages

The advantage of building with steel is that all of the walls, windows, doors, ceilings, and every component to the buildings is prefabricated and built to order. A brick building or a wood frame home might take months or even over a year to build. Metal buildings, because they are created with a modular steel build in a factory, have a much lower on-site construction time. The time of building the individual components is spent in the factories themselves, and so therefore is taken by the manufacturer and not the buyer of the building.

Steel buildings are certainly built for utility. No one would call them pretty, though they’re not particularly ugly either. The most standard use for steel buildings around Georgia is storage – sheds, warehouses, even modular storage units – construction is easy, the buildings last and are very weatherproof, and they’re cheap to purchase and build. So, if you have a need for a building in Georgia in which to store things, or to work in – a carpentry shop or auto mechanic garage, for example – prefabricated steel buildings may be right up your alley.

3. Constructing prefabricated steel buildings in Georgia

Requirements and building codes differ from state to state and county to county. The first thing to do, of course, is find some property in Georgia. Make sure any property you buy is properly zoned for the construction of steel buildings – residential areas, for example, probably aren’t going to be available for steel building construction. Make sure you check with your local zoning board before you purchase property in Georgia to build on.

After you have some property in Georgia to build prefabricated steel buildings on, it’s time to think about local building codes. Before you even begin to think about exactly what you personally want in a building, there are certain standards every county in every state in the country requires that your building adhere to. These vary, of course, from county to county – steel buildings in Florida will need to be highly wind resistant for hurricane season, but aren’t exactly going to have to support a lot of snow. On the other hand, buildings in the Colorado Mountains won’t have to withstand as much wind, but are going to have to be capable of supporting a large and heavy roof snow load.

When you’ve found a good steel production company to build your steel building, you’ll include the location in your cost estimate form – they’ll be able to tell from that exactly what the building codes are in your area and how to construct your building to adhere to them.

4. Modular steel building with a purpose

Before you even begin to look for a steel building company around Georgia to build your metal building for you, you should know exactly what you need. You might even want to go as far as to draw up a rough blueprint. The cost estimate forms for most companies are fairly straightforward, but you should make sure you know what you’re looking for before you begin. Here are some things you should decide now.

The most obvious fact you should know about your building in Georgia is its dimensions. How wide and how long is it? How high are the walls? What’s the slant of the roof? These basic dimensions are the most important facts, and you should certainly know these. Again, check out your Georgia property before you order a building – a sixty foot warehouse isn’t much good on a fifty foot lot.

After that, it’s time to start looking at the details. What color will the building be? Will the roof be insulated? The walls? How many windows, and of what sort? Will you use skylights or electric lighting? How many doors you have? Think about a warehouse door too. If you’ll be using this to store machinery or cars, you’ll probably want a warehouse door – write down how big you want it to be, both width and height, and whether or not you want an electronic opening kit (the kind used on most garage doors).

If you have windows, you’ll also have to think about trim. Do you want any? How much are you willing to spend? Also, especially if you live in an area with a lot of rain, you may very well want rain gutters on your building. Most of these features will cost a few hundred extra, so make sure you only add the things you want and need.
