Tech Trend: MiniDV--End of the Line?

The popularity of MiniDV camcorders has been plummeting, with DVD-based models taking hold. In 2007, DVD-based camcorders will outsell MiniDV-based models for the first time, according to IDC Research; by 2009, hard-disk-based models will also overtake MiniDV ones. So why is everyone ditching the format that gave birth to the era of digital video?

"The vast majority of consumers are buying DVD models on the premise of convenience," says Mitch Glick, assistant manager of marketing for Canon's camcorder division. Removing a disc from a camcorder and popping it into a DVD player is that format's main benefit. And though MiniDV still offers better video quality, Sony spokesperson Yolanda Hunt-Boes says that for most users, "The video quality [provided by DVD- and hard-disk-based models] is good enough for them."

Broda Recharging has been committed to the sale of renewable resources since 1996. Since the sun has all the power we could ever use, the company has expanded to include solar energy production for commercial and residential purposes. The solar energy is generated from the most advanced solar energy equipment including photovoltaic cells, solar modules, charge controllers and solar power inverters. Products range from grid-tied systems to “Do-It-Yourself” kits. Even solar modules utilizing the high efficiency thin-film Copper Indium Gallium DiSelenide (C.I.G.S.) components are now available. This is the latest in space age technology, developed in NASA’s shuttle program. Service is offered for all sales, installations and maintenance.

The amount and efficiency of solar power energy products sold in the United States continues to grow at a rapid rate. The solar attic fans, emergency spot lights and street lights are extremely popular to start a solar project. Starter kits are a useful item for the beginner, disbeliever or for educational purposes.
