(NC)-Every seasoned backyard griller has a favourite tool. It could be an oversized turner, a pair of tongs that fits their hand just right, or even just a trusty grill brush. What you may not know is that there are now dozens of BBQ specific tools and accessories available. From the basic tongs and turners to cooking accessories like rib racks, griddles, and chicken roasters, a griller's toolbox is never full.

The Basics

Everyone that owns a barbecue should have a good quality grill brush, a pair of long handle locking tongs, a large turner and a good quality grill cover. The next step should be a griddle for making breakfast and Panini sandwiches, a pizza pan or pizza stone (a grill makes a great pizza oven), and an oil mister for seasoning and oiling the cooking grids to prevent rusting and sticking.

Toys made for the grill

After the basics, the fun really starts. The hottest grilling trends are planking, smoking and roasting. With cedar or maple grilling planks salmon or pork tenderloin can be cooked to tender, smoky succulence with ease. Planking is a great way to impress your guests and is super simple. Just soak the plank, put the seasoned meat or fish on the plank, and onto the grill it goes. You can even serve your meal right from the plank at the table.
