Originally published at Internet.comThe Tidal Enterprise Scheduler is a centralized platform that enables data center administrators to leverage a graphical interface and manage the automatic execution of batch processes across their infrastructure; an infrastructure that can consist of multiple, individual machines (with their own operating systems) as well as enterprise applications such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Informatica, Oracle, Tivoli Storage Manager, and more. The administrator accesses the central Master servers (Windows/UNIX/Linux) via a Windows or browser-based GUI (CLI access is also supported), which provide the graphical workflow tools that enable the management of the batch processes themselves.
The Master servers then communicate with the individual machines in the data center by way of agents deployed on the target machines themselves. The Agents execute the actual jobs on the target machines and report their results back to the Masters. Multiple agents are available for the platform, including those for Windows, UNIX, Linux, AS/400, and z/OS, among others. And for integration with/control over the processes of specific applications, the vendor offers multiple Enterprise Adapters that enable the product to interface with those applications and/or respond to events generated from those applications. Enterprise Adapters are available for multiple 3rd party applications, including MS SQL Server and Oracle DBs; SAP; PeopleSoft; Crystal Enterprise; Web services; and VERITAS NetBackup, among several others.
The platform can additionally integrate with and respond to events generated from 3rd party systems; including E-mail, SNMP, and management frameworks (HP OpenView and MOM) among other possibilities. According to the vendor, the platform "... can manage hundreds of thousands of tasks per day."
New features in the latest release of Tidal Enterprise Scheduler include:
- An Enterprise Adapter for SAP Solutions 7.0, offering support for the SAP XBP 3.0 interface and the ability to capture/respond to SAP events
- Support for Master and Agent components on VMWare
- Support for FTP over SSL file transfers (joins existing support for SFTP)
Tidal Enterprise Scheduler is available now; pricing starts at $35,000. Contact Tidal Software for further information.Author: EITPlanet Staff
