It takes just seconds for a child to wander on to the road and small children are easily missed by drivers due to their small stature. Likewise, any playground that you choose to take your kids to should be enclosed by a fence. If you have valid safety concerns with your local playgrounds, bring it to the attention of your local municipality immediately.
Supervise children while they are at play. It seems that the worst accidents that take place during playtime are those that involved unsupervised kids. Never leave them unattended in any place that poses obvious danger like a swimming pool or public place. Even if you think your child is old enough, it may be a good idea to keep a close eye on them anyway. Accidents take just seconds and most of them are preventable.
When kids get playing hard they can work up a big appetite. Keep snacks and drinks on hand and be sure to serve them at regular intervals. Dehydration happens easily, especially during hot days. Make sure kids always have access to fresh water or proper fruit juices. Replenishing lost fluids is essential when playing hard.
Playing is already a healthy activity. However, parents can do a lot to make it even better. Do what’s best for your kids while at play.
