Trust Keyboard KB-1800S Peoria IL

Trust make a further foray into the world of IT peripherals with this, their KB-1800S slimline keyboard. It's a fairly basic affair, coming as it does with a few hotkeys to enable rapid, one click access to the Internet, Windows Media Players controls, e-mail etc but other that that, it's your basic slimline keyboard. It's very light and easily transportable and you have the option of either a porting it up via USB or PS/2 cable. It stands up on your workdesk via some fairly innocuous little stands at the rear and it looks very nice.

I do have one major problem with this keyboard and, ironically, my problem is actually Trust's major selling point of the product. You see for me, slimline keyboards are a bit like fast food - they look great at first glances but when you really get stuck in, you realise what a terrible mistake you've made in purchasing them. For me, many slimline keyboards feel like they've been slapped together at the last minute and that is certainly the case with this one.

Typing on it just isn't a particularly rewarding experience. Yes, I admit that they do benefit those who hate the noisy tip-tapping of a normal keyboard so for those irritated by the hard-working, fast-typing writer, there is an obvious advantage. Trust have shot themselves in the foot though because whilst the keys make little tapping noise, after a couple of days use, they started to make an irritating squeaking one - specifically on the Enter and Spacebar keys. Now, that's fairly unacceptable in my eyes and I think Trust have really let themselves down here with a peripheral that feels rushed, uncomfortable and, frankly, cheap.

I wouldn't waste your money here I'm afraid. Trust do sell some very capable and good value products. This just isn't one of them.
