The prevention methods recommended include:

- Compression stockings. These stockings are the key to prevention of varicose veins and spider veins. One must wear them regularly. - During your pregnancy (esp. in the 2nd and 3rd term), try and lie down on the left side. This takes away pressure on the veins in the pelvis and prevent the development of varicose veins and leg swelling

- Do not cross your legs when sitting down.

- Exercise and walk. It is not only good for your legs but good for better health

- Try and maintain a normal weight. Obesity increases the chance of increasing varicose veins.
