Watch maker’s tools - hammers and storage containers

Author: Ian Stathem

There are many varieties of hammers used as tools in watch making – hammers and mallets. The Brass and Metal Planishing Hammer weighs about 55 grams and measures 30 cm in length. It has a solid steel head and a steel collet screws on a metal and brass head, each around 2 cm, to it. It has a key which can be used to take off the collet to release either of the metal or brass heads. With a Brass and Plastic Planishing Hammer, there is a Nylon Plastic and brass head.

The Solid Brass Repousse Hammer with a Twist comes with a 4 piece stainless steel screwdriver set. The hammer head is of brass and is approximately 6oz. There is an internal screw that splits the handle and the shaft. There is a solid 25 cm long flat head screwdriver that is constructed of stainless steel, at the end of which another 15 cm screwdriver with a steel shaft is present. This once again screws down to an 8 cm long screw driver with another 6 cm precision screw driver at the end. It is a multi purpose, high quality and smart tool to help watch makers.

The Bergeon Boxwood Mallet is well suited to replace bracelet pins; there is no risk of scratching the metal finish. It is a sturdy tool which lasts long; it has an ergonomic design to make it comfortable for use. The mallet faced is large and flat and it also has a conical nose that can be used for precision driving.

The Bergeon Watchmakers Hammer has a wooden handle and stainless steel head which is highly polished. It is 200 mm long and 50 mm wide. This hammer model comes in different weights to suit different driving needs – 30 grams, 40 grams, 55 grams and 70 grams. The Watch Makers Hammer has an 80 mm head width and is 230 mm long. It is a high quality tool that weighs 65 grams. There is another model that weighs 55 grams. The hammer has a high quality wooden handle and a polished steel head. It has a dimension of 70 mm head width and a 200 mm length.

The Bergeon Two sided Working Tray is a square tray with dimensions 158 mm * 158 mm * 13 mm; both sides of the tray can be used. This tray is available in two colours. Bergeon Divided Tray is unbreakable and shatter-proof. It is circular in shape with a diameter of 100 mm and is blue in colour and can be used for keeping small parts without fear of losing them. With a lid, this tray can be used as a dust free storage tray. The lid comes in a transparent plastic material as a domed lid or a lid with a handle. It fits snugly for the divider tray and makes it a safe environment for storing watch components.
