By choosing a carpet that is, for example, pink or a louder color that is not common it may be more difficult to sell your home. Also by having carpet colors that are not as common you will have to decorate according to the carpet, but with generic colors it is easier to decorate the home. To keep your carpet looking clean a dark color carpet can be a better option. Carpet that is patterned will make the carpet match much of the decor and it also hides stains and spills better.

You also need to consider what the carpet will cost. If you do not plan on staying in your home for a long time you may not want to a lot for carpeting. You should look into purchasing a carpet that will last a long time while not being terribly expensive. You obviously do not want to lose money when you decide to sell your home and if you spend a lot of money on carpet you can't take it with you when you move out.
