STEP 2:

Functions of a cellular reseller. Once you become a VNO, the scope of the work involved covers customer service, creating new business, offering technical and payment support through various means such as point-of-sale, IVRs, service plans, billing, etc. In short, you run the whole business, except you do not own the spectrum bandwidth you are selling. For managing the day-to-day operations, you have the choice of building your own infrastructure and staff; else, you can also outsource front and backend support systems.

STEP 3:

How to get started. Many of the established network operators such as Sprint, Cingular, Virgin Mobile, etc, offer business opportunities to interested individuals, where you sign up with them as authorized agents or resellers to market a range of wireless products and services which can include voice communication (prepaid and postpaid), content and data services and internet browsing. First register yourself as an interested reseller and select the cellular services that you want to sell. Once you have provided the requisite information and contact details, your application will be reviewed and a representative of the company will get in touch with you. Further detailed documentation in terms of contracts, etc, will need to be completed. Once the sign-up process is complete, the company will provide you with detailed training on each of the products and services you've selected to sell. The company will also provide all the necessary sales and marketing kits which you will then sell to new subscribers. Based on the sales you generate, payments will be made to you as per contractual terms.

STEP 4:

Other options. A few other options available to resellers are to buy cellular products at wholesale auctions or other wholesale dealers or becoming a Powerseller on eBay. eBay has a separate portal called the "Reseller Marketplace", which you can join once you've been approved as a Powerseller. Such schemes are preferable if you want to create an online business, cutting down on requirements such as a live store, inventory stocking, sales staff, etc. Some amount of initial homework in the form of extensive research is required if you are decided on becoming a cellular reseller. There are many ways to do this and you should pick the one which suits your style and pocket. Reselling need not be limited to cellular products and services, there is a whole, wide range of products and services which actively encourage reselling and you can pick any of these products and services to get started.
